Stone Resin Overlay

Size
70m2
Overview
This was an overlay project to transform an existing concrete driveway. With an area to cover of approximately 70m2, previously a mix of both grass and concrete areas, Newlook Surfacing were called to install a resin-bound overlay which would transform the aesthetics and functionality of the driveway.

The Job
Newlook Surfacing identified several key objectives for this project:
1.
Durability:
To install a strong and long-lasting surface that can provide parking for cars.
2.
Visual Appeal:
Creating an incredible aesthetic that is modern and compliments the property’s brickwork.
3.
Functionality:
A fully functioning outdoor space that can be utilised all year round and is low maintenance.

Solution
Newlook Surfacing suggested a stone resin overlay of the existing concrete and grass to modernize and renew the driveway in keeping with the look of the property.
Stage 1:
The existing driveway consisted of good-quality concrete as well as a grass area. Therefore, the existing concrete could be overlaid and the grass area replaced with the VubaMac system, improving the permeability. To ensure the concrete base was durable and long-lasting, a stabilising mesh was placed over the entire area to create a strong foundation for the stone resin overlay. As no dig-out was required, this job could be completed in just a few day’s work.
Stage 2:
We then installed bullnose edging which would be used to create a step to the front door and a raised soil bed. These curved edges would add dimension to the driveway and provide a stylish finish. Charcoal pavers were used to create the driveway’s trim. This contrasted with the stone resin, making the colours pop and adding to the design’s modernity.
Stage 3
Finally, the top layer of Vuba Stone Resin Bound was ready to be laid over the top. The chosen colour blend was Aztec Gold; a warming and luxurious colour which has a natural feel to it. This colour blend compliments the brickwork of the house. When laying the stone resin we used both a hand trowel and a power trowel to ensure we had a consistent finish across the entire surface.
Results
Due to the expert installers and the high-quality materials, this customer has a full 15-year warranty. The best way to upgrade your driveway.
